چکیده
ABSTRACT Purpose To verify the responses of Evoked Otoacoustic Emissions by transient stimulus and distortion product in individuals with Ménière’s Disease. Methods Cross-sectional study a sample composed 60 individuals, aged 19 to 75 years, divided into two groups: group, 32 medical diagnosis disease, without other risks control group formed 28 cochlear loss Meniere’s age sex matched group. Eligibility criteria: type A curve, conductive or mixed suspected retrocochlear alteration. The audiological evaluation consisted anamnesis, inspection external acoustic meatus, pure tone audiometry, logoaudiometry, measures immittance evoked otoacoustic emissions product. Results Individuals disease had higher occurrence unilateral hearing loss, low pitch tinnitus, vertigo ear fullness relation control. In these there was greater incompatibility between results OAE audiometry: alterations were observed ears normal thresholds on contralateral side, characterizing dysfunctions. presence TEOAE absence DPOAE, contrast which showed as expected losses etiologies. Conclusion investigation identified dysfunction cases TOAE DPOAE differentiating from

The effects of aging on evoked otoacoustic emissions and efferent suppression of transient evoked otoacoustic emissions.
OBJECTIVE There is still controversy regarding the effects of aging on evoked otoacoustic emissions (EOAEs), as well as on the efferent system measured by contralateral acoustic stimulation of EOAEs. The purpose of this study was to investigate the deterioration in EOAEs and efferent suppression (ES) in a representative sample statistically controlling for the differences in hearing thresholds....
متن کاملNoise-evoked otoacoustic emissions in humans.
Click-evoked otoacoustic emissions (CEOAEs) and acoustical responses evoked by bandlimited Gaussian noise (noise-evoked otoacoustic emissions; NEOAEs) were measured in three normal-hearing subjects. For the NEOAEs the first- and second-order Wiener kernel and polynomial correlation functions up to the sixth order were calculated by cross correlating the noise stimulus and the emission response....
متن کاملTransient evoked otoacoustic emissions and pseudohypacusis.
The audiologic diagnosis of pseudohypacusis continues to challenge the clinical audiologist. The introduction of otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) to the test repertoire of the audiologist may prove valuable in the evaluation of pseudohypacusis. This report highlights five cases in which transient evoked otoacoustic emissions (TEOAEs) were used to cross-check the validity of subjective audiologic th...
متن کاملThe relationship between ultra-high frequency thresholds and transient evoked otoacoustic emissions in adults with tinnitus
Background: The possible role of cochlear function in tinnitus generation is still a matter of debate. To assess the role of outer hair cell dysfunction in tinnitus and its possible relationship with ultra-high frequency (UHF) hearing sensitivity, transient evoked otoacoustic emissions (TEOAE) and UHF hearing thresholds were investigated in normal hearing individuals with and withou...
متن کامل[Changes in transient evoked otoacoustic emissions contralateral suppression in infants].
BACKGROUND It has been suggested that the function of the medial olivocochlear system (MOCS) can be evaluated by the suppression effect of the transient evoked otoacoustic emission (TEOAE). The competitive noise has an inhibitory effect on the functioning of the outer hair-cell, reducing the level of otoacoustic emissions. Despite the fact that there is no postnatal growth of the cochlea, middl...
